Caroline Moss (Later Caroline Phillips)1856 - 1875

Caroline Moss (maiden name Moss) who was sentenced to seven days in prison was born in Ascott in 1856.

Her parents were Joseph and Ann (maiden name Pratley) Moss. Joseph had been born in Ascott in 1804 and Ann in Leafield in 1815. They were married in Shipton in 1835.

Caroline was their youngest child. She had five brothers. William, Alfred, Charles, Joseph and Joshua and five sisters, Mary Ann, Harriet, Emma, Emily and Eleanor.

In 1874 Caroline married Thomas Phillips in Shipton. He was a farm labourer born in Shipton. Caroline died in 1875.
